High Point Trail Cleanup : We lucked out with dry weather on Saturday April 20 for the annual trail clearing event at the High Point Preserve under the stewardship of the Edward L Rose Conservancy. The volunteers used chain saws, loppers, and hand power to remove fallen limbs and trees from the hiking paths and manage some of the drainage flows. Many thanks to the team of Keith Oberg, Roxie Oberg, Tim Matthews, Terry Matthews, John Titus, John Renner, Scott Heckman, Kenna Lou Mills, Russ Cole, Anthony Palombaro, Chris Wilkerson, Tatiana Wilkerson, Neko Wilkerson, and Tatiana's mom Svetlana.
The vernal pools were rich with amphibian life. There were large mats of egg masses from early breeding wood frogs, with tadpoles ready to hatch, along with some cloudy egg masses from spotted salamanders. A large number of green frogs of various sizes were gathered getting ready for their breeding event in May - July.
Thanks to Keith for his organization and communication.
